Star Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant finally opened up after his controversial dismissal and Team India’s third straight loss against New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday, November 3. The Indian keeper-batter, who made his return in red-ball cricket since December 2022 in two-match series against Bangladesh, broke his silence on the matter while sharing a cryptic post on his Instagram handle.

Pant, who has been vocal of his performance, was part of a controversial dismissal in the third Test and now aims to embrace the lows as he aims to relish the highs in life with the highly-anticipated five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 ahead. It is to be noted that Pant was the only bright spot in India’s second inning while the team was chasing 147 runs on Day 3 of the Mumbai Test.

Taking to his Instagram handle, the 26-year-old aimed to come back good, overcoming the lows as the team is set to travel to Australia for the five-match BGT 2024-25. "Life is a series of seasons. When you're down, remember that growth happens in cycles. Embrace the lows, knowing they are preparing you for the highs,” Pant shared an Instagram story.

However, it is still not confirmed that whether this post came with India’s first-ever series clean sweep at home, or with respect to his controversial dismissal after scoring 64 runs off 57 balls. Highlighting the controversial dismissal, the moment came on the first ball of the 22nd over as he got out off Ajaz Patel's delivery. Pant tried to charge down the wicket and Tom Bundell caught hold of the ball. However, the on-field umpie reckoned him not out but replays showed a spike, forcing the umpire to overturn his decision.

Although, the 26-year-old walked back to the pavilion after brief discussion with the umpires and venting out his frustration, he ended the series as the top run-scorer, amassing 261 runs at an average of 43.50 and a strike rate of 89.38. He will next be seen in action in the BGT 2024-25 down under as the team is set to depart on November 10.
