While England got off to a shaky start and lost Jonny Bairstow for 15 runs, Dawid Malan played an 87-run knock to give the side some stability. However, it didn’t last long as they soon lost Joe Root for 28 runs. However, Ben Stokes played a brilliant inning of 108 runs off 84 deliveries to help the team post a beyond-300 score. The Englishmen failed to perform beyond Stokes and surrendered themselves to the Dutch bowling lineup.
In the second inning, the 2019 winners compensated for their on-and-off batting performance and compelled Dutch batters to walk back to the pavilion after short tenures. Skipper Scott Edwards, who stood by his side in difficult times throughout the tournament failed to give his best in front of their English rivals. Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid took three wickets each and guided the side to a 160-run win over the Netherlands.
