England Women’s team is set to visit India for a three-match T20I series, followed by a Test match between the two giants. The last time they toured India in 2019, England Women lost 2-1 in the ODI leg of the tour at the Wankhede before winning the T20I series 3-0 in Guwahati. While the T20I series is slated to commence on December 6 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, the Test match will be played from December 14 to December 17 at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai.
The dates for the T20I series will be December 6, December 9, and December 10 at the Wankhede. While the official squad hasn’t been announced yet, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has already announced the names of the squad members who will be touring India for the forthcoming clashes.
The upcoming series will be India's first with Amol Muzumdar, the former Rajasthan Royals batting coach and Mumbai men's head coach. Muzumdar's appointment as India's women's coach was announced earlier in October. Ahead of the forthcoming tour, the England head coach Jon Lewis said, “We haven’t toured India for a number of years. We have players who have experienced playing in the Women’s Premier League but many haven’t played international cricket there before.”
Lewis added, “Playing in Indian conditions is great preparation for our next two World Cups in the subcontinent and will be an amazing learning opportunity for both the players and the staff. We respect the Indian team and are really looking forward to the challenge.”
