The latest buzz in the football arena is the high-profile transfer saga of the Norwegian striker Erling Haaland. While Manchester City have already confirmed the deal in an official release, it is now being reported that Haaland had gifted each of his 33 teammates at Dortmund as well as the coaching staff luxury watches worth up to $15,000 before making a move out of the club.
Haaland has done this as a farewell gift which has apparently cost him close to half a million dollars. Other than the players and the coaching staff, every official at the club, including medical and support personnel, received this gift from the 21-year-old.
“Manchester City can confirm we have reached an agreement in principle with Borussia Dortmund for the transfer of striker Erling Haaland to the Club on 1st July 2022. The transfer remains subject to the Club finalizing terms with the player,” read the statement released by Man City on May 10.
As per reports, Haaland's multi-year deal could be worth over 300 million euros- an amount that includes his salary, agent fees as well as bonuses. Haaland finished as the third-highest goal-scorer in the Bundesliga this season, having netted 21 goals in 24 appearances.
In addition, he has 7 assists to his credit. During the 18 months that he has spent with the German club, Haaland has been absolutely exceptional and has managed to net over 80 goals. City, who narrowly missed out on a Champions League final spot, after losing to Real Madrid in an edge of the seat thriller in the second leg of the semi-final, would hope that Haaland proves to be the X-factor that guides them to glory in the battle for European supremacy.
