On Sunday, December 3, the third round proper draw of the FA Cup, the oldest national football competition in the world, took place with the Premier League and Championship clubs joining in. One of the major clashes in the 2023-24 season of the competition will have Arsenal host Liverpool at the Emirates on the January 6 and 7 weekend.
The defending champions Manchester City will be taking on the Championship team Huddersfield Town at the Etihad Stadium, while the runners-up Manchester United will travel to the DW Stadium to go head-to-head against Wigan Athletic from League One. In the Northeast of England, Sunderland, who are currently in the Championship, will host their near rivals Newcastle at the Stadium of Light.

In London, Chelsea will host the second-tier opposition Preston North End at the Stamford Bridge and West Ham United will play against the Championship team Bristol City at the London Stadium. The other all-Premier League clashes will have Tottenham Hotspur go up against Burnley at their home stadium and Crystal Palace taking on Everton at the Selhurst Park Stadium.
The high flying Brentford will lock horns against Wolves at the Gtech Community Stadium in yet another all Premier League clash. Overall, the FA Cup 2023-24 draw for the third round has given some mouthwatering contest to kickstart the new year with a bang in English football.
