On Friday, November 22, Hazrat Bilal, the UAE fast bowler, delivered a massive front foot no-ball during the Abu Dhabi T10 League fixture between Morrisville Samp Army and New York Strikers at the Zayed Cricket Stadium. The incident, which occurred when Morrisville Samp Army were defending the 135-run total in the match five of the Abu Dhabi T10 League, led to the fans on social media platform speculating the worst, with one claiming it as spot fixing.
Notably, in the fourth over of New York Strikers’ innings, Hazrat Bilal overstepped his mark against Asif Ali in his attempt to bowl a shorter delivery, which the batter played towards the fine leg region for a single. When the replay of the incident was shown on a giant screen in the stadium, the teammate of Hazrat Bilal at Morrisville Samp Army, namely Faf du Plessis, along with some players of New York Strikers in the dugout, including Evin Lewis, Reece Topley, and Sunil Narine were laughing sheepishly at what just transpired.
While the front foot no-ball incident gathered traction on social media, Morrisville Samp Army managed to defend the runs successfully as they restricted New York Strikers for just 99/7 in their allotted 10 overs. The win by 35 runs for Morrisville Samp Army came on the back of an exceptional batting performance from Faf du Plessis (75* off 32) and Andries Gous (41* off 16), who matched each other stroke for stroke for most of their batting innings.
