Following FIA World Motor Sport Council approval, the 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship schedule was unveiled on Friday in Le Mans. With an increase to eight events and the addition of four circuits to the 2023 calendar, the programme for the upcoming season will have a new look. The World Endurance Championships teams will travel to Bahrain, Imola, Spa-Francorchamps, Le Mans, Interlagos, and the Lusail International Circuit in Qatar during the course of the season.
The season will begin with a pre-season Prologue test at the Lusail International Circuit in Doha, Qatar, before the first race of the season takes place there a few days later. As an homage to the nation's National Day, the race, the first for the FIA WEC in Qatar, will cover 1812 miles or a maximum of 10 hours.
From there, the WEC will head to Italy in April for a six-hour race at the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari (Imola), another brand-new location for the championship. Monza is replaced on the list of locations by the historic site in the Italian region of Emilia-Romagna. As part of the new extended arrangement with the circuit, the WEC will return to Belgium for its annual round at Spa-Francorchamps before the Le Mans 24 Hours.
The championship will then make its first trip to Brazil since 2014 after the Le Mans 24 Hours on June 15–16 for a six-hour race at the Interlagos circuit. An arrangement with So Paulo City Hall has made this event feasible. Interlagos will continue to compete in the WEC through 2028 according to a new five-year agreement that was reached following the ACO Press Conference at Le Mans.
The Lone Star Le Mans, which was last hosted in February 2020, will bring the WEC back to Circuit of The Americas in Texas in early September. As a result of this information, the 1000-mile race that was scheduled to take place at Sebring as part of a doubleheader with the IMSA 12 Hours weekend would no longer take place. Before the season-ending eight-hour race in Bahrain at the International Circuit in November, there is a six-hour race at the Fuji Speedway in Japan in September as well.
