An incident of security breach took place at Eden Gardens during the opening game of IPL 2025 between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bengaluru on March 22. A fan from the stands climbed the fence and ran into the field to meet Virat Kohli who was batting at that time. The fan hugged Kolhi and touched his feet before the security officials grabbed him and took him out of the ground.
However, it didn’t end well for that fan as he was arrested by Kolkata Police over the case of security breach. Between all this, Vice President of the BCCI, Rajeev Shukla also shared the video on his X account a day after the match where the fan was seen climbing the fence and running towards the ground. However, Shukla’s post was not for criticising the fan but to acknowledge the massive fan following of Virat Kohli. He shared the post with a caption, “Amazing fan following of @imVkohli”.
