The defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders finally get their first win of the IPL 2025 as they defeated Rajasthan Royals in match number six of the season at Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati. For KKR, Quinton de Kock turned out to be a match winner with his knock of 97*(61) runs to guide the visitors to a convincing win.

Talking about the match, KKR skipper Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and asked RR to bat first. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson added 33 runs for the first wicket in 3.5 overs. Jaiswal got out after scoring 29 runs off 24 balls hitting two fours and two sixes. Meanwhile, Samson also scored just 13 runs off 11 balls with two boundaries.Skipper Riyan Parag scored a quickfire 25 runs off 15 balls hitting three maximums, while Dhruv Jurel turned out to be a top scorer for RR with 33(28) runs hitting five boundaries. For KKR, Vaibhav Arora, Moeen Ali, Harshit Rana and Varun Chakravarthy scalped two wickets each, while Spencer Johnson put one in his bag.

Quinton de Kock scores match-winning 97 as KKR register first win in IPL 2025

Chasing the winning target, KKR got a good start as Quinton de Kock and Moeen Ali added 41 runs for the first wicket in 6.1 overs. Moeen could only add 5 runs to the scoreboard. After that, skipper Ajinkya Rahane (18 off 15) joined De Kock at the crease as the duo added 29 runs for the second wicket.

After Rahane’s dismissal, De Kock and Angriksh Raghuvanshi took charge of the innings and ended up taking KKR past the winning line. De Kock smashed a six in the third ball of the 18th over to finish things off. The left-hander scored 97 runs off 61 balls hitting eight fours and sixes, while Raghuvanshi remained unbeaten on 22*(17) runs.
