Apart from that, Ashwin also has a chance to break some big records in the upcoming Tests. In the following listicle, we will have a look at the top five records that Ashwin could break in the upcoming Test series.

Ravichandran Ashwin eyes five major records in Bangladesh Tests

Most wickets in World Test Championship history: Ravichandran Ashwin has been one of India’s constant performers in Test cricket. Talking about the World Test Championship, Ashwin has bagged 173 wickets in his WTC career so far, and is just 14 wickets behind Australia's Nathan Lyon, who sits at the top spot with 187 wickets in WTC. If Ashwin surpasses this figure in the upcoming Test series, he will become the highest wicket-taker of all time in the WTC.

Most five-fers in World Test Championship: Along with most wickets, Ravichandran Ashwin is also on a verge to take most five-wicket hauls in the World Test Championship history. Currently he has 10 five wicket hauls in WTC to his name, which is equal to Nathan Lyon. He needs just one more 5-fer in the upcoming series to get on the top of the list.

Most Test wickets in India: Ravichandran Ashwin is currently the second-highest wicket-taker of all time in Tests for India with 516 wickets from 100 matches, and is just behind Anil Kumble, who has 619 wickets in his Test career. However, Ashwin can still surpass Kumble’s record for most Test wickets on Indian soil. The off-spinner has taken 454 wickets in Test matches in India and is just 22 scalps behind Anil Kumble.

Most wickets for India in Tests against Bangladesh: Ravichandran Ashwin also has a chance to become the leading wicket-taker for India in Tests against Bangladesh in the upcoming series. He has 23 wickets to his name from six matches against Bangladesh and is just behind Zaheer Khan, who has taken 31 wickets against them.

Most wickets in a single WTC campaign: Along with being the highest wicket-taker in World Test Championship history, Ravichandran Ashwin can also become the leading wicket-taker in the ongoing WTC 2023-25 cycle. The Indian off-spinner has taken 41 wickets in the ongoing World Test Championship cycle and is just 10 scalps behind Australia’s Josh Hazlewood.
