The 2023 season of the Asia Cup is set to commence from August 30 to September 17 in Pakistan and Sri Lanka. While the first match will be played between Pakistan and Nepal, India will open their campaign on September 2 against arch-rivals Pakistan. With the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 scheduled for October and November, the upcoming tournament will play a huge role for the teams participating in the marquee event.
Now that the mega-continental tournament is less than 30 days away, let’s revisit some of the finest knocks played in previous editions of the event.
Virat Kohli’s 183 against Pakistan in Asia Cup 2012
Former India skipper and star batter Virat Kohli scripted history when he played an explosive 183-run knock against Pakistan in Asia Cup 2012. Kohli recorded this score while India were chasing a 330-run total against the neighbours. The 183 by Kohli is the highest individual score in the tournament. Not only this, but it also remains the star batter’s career-best in the ODI format.
The 34-year-old combined 22 boundaries and one maximum to put up a 148-ball 183, in what was also the last ODI of India legend Sachin Tendulkar.
