Former India opener Virender Sehwag has mocked Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for securing the top position in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Amassing four points with two off two wins, Bengaluru are currently at the top of the points table. They beat defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) convincingly and kicked off the season in a brilliant fashion. Ahead of the season, RCB appointed Rajat Patidar as their captain and the 31-year-old has delivered effective results to his side with his captaincy prowess. In his team’s 50-run victory against Chennai, Rajat also became the player of the match for his stunning innings of 51 off 32.

Sehwag, who appears on CricBuzz as an expert, mocked RCB on the show. "Gareebon ko bhi toh rehne de, photo le le thodi der. Pata nahi kitni der gareeb log upar rahenge. (Let the poor be on top of the IPL points, let them click photos. Who knows for how long they will be at the top)," remarked the former India opener on a CricBuzz show.

RCB to host Gujarat Titans in first home game of IPL 2025

After winning their initial two IPL 2025 matches at away venues, RCB will host Gujarat TItans (GT) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 2. Gujarat started their competition with a 11-run loss against Punjab Kings (PBKS) but they made a comeback against Mumbai Indians (MI) with a 36-run win in Ahmedabad.

RCB will expect their star player, Virat Kohli to step up with his bat against GT. The 36-year-old holds a phenomenal record against the Titans, notching up 344 runs in five matches with three three fifties and a ton. RCB will want their solid batting unit to be at their best in their first game in Bengaluru, which is known for favouring batters.
