S ince he was appointed the new Indian head coach, Gautam Gambhir has requested another of his fo rmer teammates to be part of his support staff. Gambhir hopes to on-board former South African fast bowler Morne Morkel as India's bowling coach. Gambhir and Morkel played for the Kolkata Knight Riders and worked together in the Lucknow Super Giants coaching staff for the IPL 2022 and 2023 seasons.
So far, as per media reports, Gambhir has requested former India all-rounder Abhishek Nayar and Netherlands great Ryan ten Doeschate as members of his coaching staff. Nayar is set to be an assistant or batting coach while Tendo was slated to be the new Indian fielding coach.

Now the Southpaw from Delhi wants Morne Morkel, who played 86 Tests, 117 ODIs, and 44 T20Is between 2006 and 2018 as the bowling coach, according to Cricbuzz. The BCCI is set to take a final call as reports also surfaced about the board eyeing ex-India pacers for the bowling coach role.
A report from ANI revealed that the BCCI is interested in bringing one of Zaheer Khan or Lakshmipathy Balaji as India's bowling coach . ANI reported, "BCCI discussing the names of Zaheer Khan and Lakshmipathy Balaji for the position of bowling coach. BCCI is not interested in the name of Vinay Kumar."
