Former England skipper Michael Vaughan shared his opinion on the latest controversy surrounding all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja’s alleged reluctance to speak in English. Notably, Jadeja made it to the headlines after he allegedly refused to answer questions in English in the Indian team’s first interaction with the media ahead of the Boxing Day Test. While the BCCI team informed that Jadeja won’t take questions in English as they have to “catch the bus”, it resulted in a big controversy.

Several reports doing rounds on the internet claimed that Jadeja was speaking in Hindi because the interaction was mainly for Indian reporters. The incident divided the internet, where fans and pundits shared their opinion. Former English skipper Vaughan also shared his opinion and said that India are a powerhouse. On the Club Prairie Fire podcast, Vaughan opined, “India are a powerhouse. They clearly think cameras at the airport and filming families is a step too far. And this is their way of reacting. It just adds more drama for me. There are AI systems that you can use to translate Hindi into Australian English.”

He added, “So if they are not willing to speak in English.. Just put it into the system and it'll come out as Australian English You just quote Jadeja in what comes in the AI. It might not be the exact same but it will be quite funny.”

I don’t think they have buses: Michael Vaughan on team India’s “catch the bus” remark

The Englishman also spoke about the Indian team media manager’s “We have the bus to catch” comment while refusing questions from the Australian media. The cricketer-turned-commentator said that he believes the Indian team doesn’t travel by bus and has swanky cars. Vaughan said, "I don't think they have buses. That's a lie. I think they have cars. I'm pretty sure they don't go on a double decker team bus. They have pretty cool cars.”

Notably, the forthcoming BGT Test in Melbourne holds significant value to India’s qualification scenarios in the WTC 2025 Final. The five-match series is currently tied at 1-1, and the visitors need to win the fourth and fifth Tests in order to qualify for the finale without depending on any other team.
