Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant survived a fatal-car accident while he was returning to his hometown Roorkee in Uttarakhand from Delhi on Friday. According to reports, his car (BMW) rammed into a divider near Mohammedpur Jat near Roorkee and caught fire.

Amit Kumar, the Director General of Uttarakhand Police informed NDTV that the prime facie it appears that cricketer dozed off while driving and as a result his car collided with the divider and caught fire. “The incident took place around 5:30 am at Mohammedpur Jat near Roorkee. He was moved to the Roorkee hospital from where he has now been shifted to Dehradun,” Mr. Kumar was quoted by NDTV.

Meanwhile, VVS Laxman, the chief of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, said on Twitter that Pant is "out of danger," but the extent of his injuries is not yet known. As the news emerged from various sources, several Indian cricket fans were quick to express their concern for the dynamic batter and wished him speedy recovery.
