The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) along with the ten Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise owners are set to hold a meeting at the end of this month (July) on the key points around the upcoming IPL mega auction, which is set to take place at the end of this year. While retentions, Right to Match, Impact Player rule are some of the key points that will be discussed, which could give a clear picture to the franchises in order to whom to retain.
Amid this, a big news around the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) is spreading like wildfire. As per the speculations, star Australian all-rounder, Glenn Maxwell has unfollowed the franchise on Instagram. Seeing Maxwell’s underwhelming returns in the previous season where he scored just 52 runs in 10 matches at an average of 5.78 and strike rate of 120.93, rumours state that RCB could release Glenn Maxwell.
Maxwell was brought by RCB in IPL 2021 for a whopping prize of INR 14.25 Crore. Thereafter, he was retained at INR 11 Crore in the following year. Apart from IPL 2024, where he could not get going, Maxwell scored 513 runs in 2021 whereas finished with 301 runs in the following year.
KL Rahul to return to RCB: Reports
According to reports, RCB could also let go of their captain, Faf du Plessis and would eye to rope in an Indian captain. According to reports citing News18, KL Rahul, the current captain of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), may end his three-year stint with the franchise and could return to RCB. The 31-year-old played for RCB in IPL 2013 and IPL 2016.
