In a big update, Turkish goalkeeper Ahmet Eyup Turkasla n has been announced dead in the catastrophic earthquake which jolted parts of the world. The news of the footballer’s death comes after his club Yeni Malatyaspor confirmed with a post on late Monday night.

“Our goalkeeper, Ahmet Eyup Turkaslan lost his life after being under the collapse of the earthquake. Rest in peace,” the club’s tweet translated.

Earlier former Chelsea and Newcastle footballer Christan Atsu was also escaped alive after he was found under the earthquake rubble on Monday (6 February). The Ghana Football Association on Tuesday (7 February) shared the update on Atsu. “Update: We’ve received some positive news that Christian Atsu has been successfully rescued from the rubble of the collapsed building and is receiving treatment.”

 

After the shocking earthquake hit Turkey, Syria and other parts of the country, the death toll is seeing continuous surge. AT the time of writing, the death toll was reported to be close to 7,500. The Turkey President has also declared three-month state of emergency in ten southern provinces.
