British broadcaster Piers Morgan commented on the latest controversy of Algerian boxer Imane Khelif. Notably, after a controversy-filled Paris Olympics 2024 campaign, the boxer once again found herself in hot waters. Some unverified reports of a French journalist allegedly obtained a copy of her medical reports claiming that the boxer has ‘XY’ chromosomes. Several sport lovers and pundits reacted to the same and opined that the boxer should be stripped of her gold medal.
Notably, Khelif’s participation in the Paris Olympics 2024 was marred by controversy after the International Boxing Federation claimed that the boxer had failed a gender test. However, she went on to win gold in the female category, which also didn’t sit well with many. Three months after the win, a report by Ait Aoudia claimed that the medical reports of the boxer confirmed that she has XY chromosomes.
Piers Morgan reacts to Imane Khelif’s latest controversy
Former BBC broadcaster Piers Morgan reacted to the latest controversy and opined that the boxer should be stripped of her Olympic gold medal. He took to X and wrote, "Confirmation of what some of us said at the time: Khelif is a biological man. The gold medal should now be stripped and awarded to the best actual woman."
Apart from him, former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh also commented on the same and said that her gold should be taken back. On X, he wrote, “Take the Gold back @Olympics. This isn’t fair” Notably, after her participation in the Olympics, Khelif said that she is a woman. In one of the interviews, the boxer told The Guardian, "I am fully qualified to take part in this competition. I’m a woman like any other woman. I was born a woman, I lived a woman, I competed as a woman, there’s no doubt about that. [The detractors] are enemies of success, that is what I call them. And that also gives my success a special taste because of these attacks.”
