Stephen Curry is one of the biggest names on the NBA circuit. The American professional has consistently performed for his NBA team, Golden State Warriors, and has also entertained his fans with his unique celebrations. Curry’s famous ‘Night Night’ celebration is one of the trendiest celebrations in the sporting world at the moment. It’s a sign Curry makes indicating he has put curtains on a game.

During the first round of the 2022 NBA Playoffs, Curry debuted his “night night” move by resting his head on his hands like a pillow to signify that he had closed the curtains on a game. The 34-year-old then used this gesture throughout the postseason and made it popular among the fans. A few other players also copied this unique celebration of Curry and seeing its growing popularity, the 34-year-old has decided to trademark the phrase.

What does this mean?

A trademark can be any word, phrase, symbol, design, or a combination of these things that identifies your goods or services. It’s how customers recognize you in the marketplace and distinguish you from your competitors. Now as Curry has trademarked this phrase, he will be using it on signature sneakers or apparel. The filing also could extend to as many as 35 product categories, like bedding, glassware, boxing equipment & alcoholic beverages.

How did Curry come up with this unique celebration?

Well, as the ‘night night’ phrase has spread like a wildlife fire, the 34-year-old explained how he came up with this celebration of his. "The first time I did it was Game 3 in Denver. It happened quick, and it was one of those situations where you were back in the playoffs vibe," Curry said in an interview with Boardroom's Nick DePaula. "We had missed it for two years. I was just feeling amped being back on that stage."

"'Put 'em to sleep. Put 'em to sleep.' That was the conversation I was having with myself. Not with anyone else on the team or anyone else in the arena," Curry said.
