Less than two months are left before the start of the much awaited 2025 Champions Trophy, scheduled to be played in Pakistan and the UAE, starting on February 19. However, the latest visuals from the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore have raised concern among fans as there is still lots of work that needs to be done to get it ready with only 44 days left for the 50-over tournament. Notably, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) shared a video where Chairman Mohsin Naqvi can be seen inspecting the ongoing re-construction of the Gaddafi Stadium.
There has already been a lot of controversy ahead of the 2025 edition of the Champions Trophy due to hosting rights. Notably, the tournament was scheduled to take place in its entirety in Pakistan. However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) refused to send their team to the neighboring country due to political tensions between both nations. Later, it was decided that India will play their group stage matches in the tournament in Dubai, the UAE. Now, the concerns have been raised again about Pakistan hosting the upcoming event as all the three stadiums in Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Karachi are still undergoing re-construction with less than two months remaining in the tournament.
Visuals from Lahore Stadium raise concern ahead of 2025 Champions Trophy
Recently, PCB shared a video on their social media where Chairman Mohsin Naqvi was seen inspecting the undergoing renovation at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Although the stadium has changed a lot in the last three months, there is still lots of work left to be done, and not much time is left for the 2025 Champions Trophy.
Notably, the 2025 Champions Trophy is scheduled to kick-start on February 19. The opening match of the tournament will be played between Pakistan and New Zealand at the National Stadium in Karachi. Along with that, India are scheduled to play their matches at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The semi-finals will be played in Lahore and Dubai, while the final will be played in Lahore unless India qualifies.
