The report, addressing a Pakistan media outlet stated that the pacer was disheartened by the backlash received from fans and with advice from all corners, especially his family and friends, he had decided to call off curtains on his international career. Haris Rauf had reportedly assured to be available for the three-match Test series against Australia, but later backed out.

While a report claims that he had never committed to play in the series, another one claims that he cited fitness concern and workload management as the reasons of his withdrawal. It further adds that Rauf had shared his concerns with the then Head Coach Mickey Arthur and things turned into reality when Rauf suffered an injury after bowling just 13 overs in the only Test he played against England in December.

As per sources citing PTI, Rauf had considered retirement, he eventually decided against it after receiving support and counsel.
