Fast bowler Harshit Rana picked up his debut T20I wicket for India after replacing Shivam Dube as a concussion substitute during the fourth T20I of the five-match series against England. The 23-year-old got the vital wicket of Liam Livingstone during England’s pursuit of a 182-run target, to level the series 2-2, at the MCA Stadium in Pune, and the dismissal brought the hosts right back into the contest after a flying start in the power play from the visitors.
When India’s batting innings was going on, Shivam Dube got hit on his head by a short delivery from Jamie Overton, but despite that, he scored a valuable 53, to ensure that his team got past the 180-run mark. Although, during England’s run chase, Harshit Rana was officially added to the Indian playing XI as a concussion substitute, replacing his teammate Shivam Dube in the process.
In the 12th over of the England batting innings, with their score reading 94/3, Harshit Rana was given the ball for the first-time in his T20I career, and it took him just two balls, to send Liam Livingstone back into the pavilion for nine runs in 13 balls, nicking him off through to the wicket-keeper Sanju Samson. During his third over of his quota, the Indian pacer deceived Jacob Bethell with a slower delivery, getting him caught out at mid-on via captain Suryakumar Yadav for six runs in nine balls.
On the last ball of his spell, Harshit Rana picked up the wicket of Jamie Overton, to finish with figures of 3/33.
