Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh picked his all-time favourite Indian captain. The star cricketer, often regarded as one of the bests to have played game for India colours, appeared on Club Prairie Fire podcasts, where he named his favourite to have led Men in Blue. Singh played a key role in India’s win in T20 World Cup 2007 as well as ODI World Cup 2011 and is one of the few names to represent India under the leadership of many stars.

During his conversation on the Club Prairie podcast, Singh recalled how it was like playing under different names including the likes of Sourav Ganguly, MS Dhoni and Anil Kumble. However, the 42-year-old went on to name his favourite captain, who is, surprisingly a junior to him and went on to take on India’s reins much later after his retirement.

Sourav Ganguly was aggressive, Dhoni was cool: Yuvraj Singh

During his appearance on the Club Prairie podcast, Singh spoke about playing under the leadership of different captains, their approach and nature. Singh was asked to name his favourite captain to which he said, "It has to be Sourav Ganguly, as I made my debut when he was the captain and backed me. I was new to the team and Ganguly gave me a lot of chances. Bhajji (Harbhajan Singh), Virender Sehwag and Zaheer (Khan) were the other cricketers who got Sourav's support. He knew we would become match-winners if proper guidance is given.”

Highlighting the difference between Sourav Ganguly and MS Dhoni said that while the former was a bit aggressive, Dhoni was cool and calm. Singh said, "Sourav Ganguly was aggressive in his approach, while Dhoni was cool and calm. Dhoni was a good captain as well, and he always had Plan B if Plan A failed. Dravid was there for a short duration. Anil Kumble captained us in Australia, and he used to lead from the front.”

Yuvraj Singh picks favourite among  Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Yuvraj Singh

The two-time World Cup winning captain was also asked to pick his favourite name among Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni. The legendary all-rounder stated that if he had to choose the one for the T20 format, he would go with the T20 World Cup winning captain Rohit Sharma. Singh said, "Probably I'd go for Rohit Sharma if it's T20 cricket. As a player, I'd go for Rohit, because he's an outstanding captain and can change the game with his batting, for sure, Rohit Sharma would be the first choice.”
