Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe has expressed his disappointment towards the fans and said that he doesn’t understand how Lionel Messi’s exit led to happiness. Lionel Messi’s contract with the Parisians is set to expire at the end of this month as the Argentine superstar decided to not renew the contract. The decision came after an unauthorised trip to Saudi Arabia, which drew criticism from fans. Not only this, but the 35-year-old also received a suspension and a fine from the club a few months ago.

Kylian Mbappe has spoken for the first time on Messi’s exit from the club. The French superstar told Gazzetta, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano, "He’s one of greatest player in the history of football. It's never good news when someone like Messi leaves. I don't quite understand why so many people were so relieved that he was gone. He didn't get the respect he deserved in France."

Not only this, but the 24-year-old also announced that he won't be extending his contract with the Parc des Princes; hence his tenure with them will come to an end in June 2025. Mbappe made a blunt statement about the failure of the Paris giants in the UEFA Champions League saying that he knew about the flaws of the club that would prevent them from winning the tournament.

In an interview with the Italian daily La Gazzetta dello Sport, Mbappe said, "At the top level, for a competitor like me, the goal is to win all the titles. We knew there were shortcomings that sooner or later we end up paying for. We have to learn from the mistakes of each season, not to repeat them every time - these are not empty words. Individually, on the other hand, I have been maintaining high levels for some years. I want to continue progressing to always remain at the top."

According to French daily L'Equipe, PSG are contemplating selling him this year. Meanwhile, Mbappe said that he would be happy to stay in Paris next year. He joined Paris Saint-Germain in 2017 after Monaco and his contract will expire in June 2025.
