Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batter Ambati Rayudu almost shocked everyone with his tweet on Saturday. The 36-year-old announced retirement from the Indian Premier League (IPL) after the ongoing season. However, Rayudu removed the tweet a few minutes later which left fans puzzled. Everyone started speculating the reason behind Rayudu's tweet but found no answers.
Nonetheless, CSK CEO Kasi Vishwanath came up with an explanation for Rayudu's retirement tweet. Vishwanath said that Rayudu might have put up the tweet in frustration after not-so-good performances from him in IPL 2022. He also confirmed that the 36-year-old is not going anywhere and will stay with Chennai for now.
"No no he's not retiring. Maybe he wasn't happy with his performances and might have put it out. Just a psychological thing, I reckon. He'll be with us," said the CSK CEO.
Rayudu and Chennai have unforgettable season
Neither Chennai Super Kings (CSK) players nor the fans are used to the kind of performance the four-time champions have put on this season. CSK have been the second most successful team after Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League with four titles. They also took part in IPL 2022 as defending champions. But things went south for the Chennai-based franchise right from the start of the tournament. They lost four games on the trot under their new captain Ravindra Jadeja.
The season went the same way for Ambati Rayudu who aggregated only 271 runs in 12 games for CSK at an average of 27.10. His highest score is 78 in IPL 2022 so far. Although Rayudu looked better than most of the CSK batters, he was not at his best. And this may be the reason behind his frustration which came out in the form of a tweet. Now, with two league games left, Rayudu and CSK will look to make the most of it and prepare for the season ahead.
