MS Dhoni, the captain of Chennai Super Kings, played an instrumental role at the helm to help the franchise win their fifth IPL trophy on May 29, after defeating Gujarat Titans in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. But, during the tournament, the 41-year-old Indian cricketing legend was seemingly struggling with his left knee, which was heavily strapped in a cast.

After the victory in the IPL 2023 Final, MS Dhoni underwent knee surgery at the Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai. Shortly afterwards, the former Indian captain was spotted having a South Indian dinner and a cup of tea or coffee, with an unidentified man; the picture has since gone viral on social media.

Recently, in a chat with ESPNcricinfo Tamil, CSK CEO Kasi Vishwanathan talked about how MS Dhoni never complained about his knee issue to anybody, even while it was such an open secret. He was quoted as saying, “Till the final, he never complained about his knee to anybody. Though everyone knew, and you would've seen him struggling while running, he never complained even once. After the final, he said, 'Okay, I'll have a surgery.' He's finished his surgery, he's quite happy, he's recovering.”

He further revealed the plans of MS Dhoni in regard to getting surgery and rehabbing afterwards. Kasi Vishwanathan said, “Actually, he told us immediately after the final is over he'll fly to Mumbai, have surgery and go back to Ranchi for rehab.”

Moreover, during the post-match presentation after winning the IPL, MS Dhoni detailed his career plan for the future, while stating that he will return to play in the tournament next year, as a thank-you gesture to the CSK fans who have stood behind him all these years.
