The former Indian cricketer, Irfan Pathan, took to his official X account to opine that Riyan Parag is set to get many chances for India in limited-overs cricket due to his ability to bowl. The 39-year-old remarked that there aren’t many batters in India who can roll their arm over, which will give “extra advantage” to Riyan Parag in terms of team selection.
Notably, in the first T20I of the three-match series against Sri Lanka, Riyan Parag was given the responsibility of bowling in the last five overs of the innings where he picked up three wickets in just eight balls. The second T20I saw him get a four-over spell for the first time in his career, conceding just 30 runs without picking up a wicket.
As far as his batting exploits of Riyan Parag were concerned, he got the chance in the first T20I, scoring 7 off 6 with a four in the death overs of the Indian innings.
Following the conclusion of the second T20I, where India defeated Sri Lanka by seven wickets to take unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series, Irfan Pathan addressed the Riyan Parag’s inclusion in the national team and said, “You will see Riyan Parag getting many chances due to his bowling ability. As a top-order batsman, not many in the country have the ability to roll their arm over. This is where Riyan Parag will get an extra advantage, and rightly so.”
Moreover, the third T20I of the three-match series between Sri Lanka and India will be played on Tuesday, July 30, at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Pallekele.
