During the rain-curtailed first day’s play in the second Test match between India and Bangladesh, Rishabh Pant, one of the most outspoken wicket-keepers in the world, gave the fans yet another funny moment to enjoy. At the Green Park in Kanpur, Rishabh Pant was heard telling Ravichandran Ashwin about how they can get Mominul Haque lbw by hitting the diminutive batter on his helmet, which left legendary Sunil Gavaskar in splits on commentary.

The hilarious stump mic interaction occurred in the second session’s play on day one when the light was starting to fade at the Green Park in Kanpur due to a weather system moving in. When Ravichandran Ashwin was getting himself ready to bowl the second delivery of his ninth over, Rishabh Pant remarked, “Ye acha hai. Idhar se lb (lbw) le sakte hai helmet se (This is good. We can get him out lbw even on the helmet).”

Sunil Gavaskar translated Rishabh Pant's hilarious comment on commentary with a grin on his face

The cheering words from Rishant Pant towards Ravichandran Ashwin had Sunil Gavaskar laughing on live mic during the India versus Bangladesh Test broadcast all over the world. The former Indian captain also went on to translate the interaction between Pant and Ashwin, and said, “What Rishabh Pant is saying in Hindi is that you can get an LBW on the helmet as well.”

Moreover, the action didn’t last for long after Rishabh Pant’s hilarious comment behind the stumps as the bad light stopped play at the Green Park in Kanpur when Bangladesh were 107/3 in 35 overs with Mushfiqur Rahim and Mominul Haque at the crease. Shortly after, the incessant rains made their way to the venue, and it led to the officials calling off play on day one of the second Test match.

According to the Indian meteorological department, the weather in Kanpur on day two and three of the second Test match is expected to be just as rainy as the first one if not more. With that, the play might get interrupted multiple times at the Green Park in the next couple of days.
