Former Pakistan cricketer Danish Kaneria has been in the limelight lately and has been catching headlines with his quotes on various topics. While he recently was involved in a banter on microblogging site, X, formerly known as Twitter where he was trolled for his remarks. Off late, the former Pakistan cricketer, who was interviewed by one of the faces of Indian new media houses.

In an exclusive interview on AajTak, the former cricketer came forward to request Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to help him in removing his ban from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). It is to be noted that the 42-year-old was handed the ban in 2012 in a case of spot-fixing.
“I would like to appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BCCI to help me remove the ban that was imposed on me by the ECB,” Danish Kaneria was quoted as saying by AajTak.
The Pakistan leg-spinner was found guilty of corruption by an ECB disciplinary panel in relation to the spot-fixing case involving Mervyn Westfield. He was initially handed a five-year ban, but as per ICC’s anti-corruption code, the decisions based on a domestic board’s regulations should be upheld by boards around the world, which led to his ban by the PCB.

Notably, the former Pakistan player also lashed out the team’s performance in the ongoing CWC as they were thumped to a 8-wicket loss against Afghanistan. In an exclusive interview on AajTak, Kaneria said, “This is not a balanced team. The team is created on PR relations and the Afghanistan outclassed the Pakistan side across all departments.”
“Lambasting Babar Azam’s captaincy, he said, “give it on paper as he doesn’t know anything.” Kaneria also shared his opinions on where Pakistan lacked calling them “a pathetic side in the World Cup.”
