As Delhi Capitals announced their Playing XI for their opening contest against Chennai Super Kings, there were a lot of question marks regarding the selection of players. Even, Amit Mishra got the cap as he got set to play his 100th match for the franchise.
Ishant misses clash against CSK due to injury
The selection that surprised everyone was the inclusion of Avesh Khan ahead of experienced pacer Ishant Sharma. However, Delhi Capitals' assistant coach has confirmed that the veteran pacer was in contention to play the match against CSK on Saturday but has been left out of Playing XI due to an injury.
Avesh Khan grabs his opportunity
The 24-year-old pacer, who got a chance in the opening game, grabbed his opportunity with both hands. Avesh impressed in his very first over as he provided his side the first breakthrough, getting Faf du Plessis LBW with a peach of a delivery.
Debutant Chris Woakes also joined the party in the next over as he sent Ruturaj Gaikwad back to the pavilion. With two early wickets, Rishabh Pant certainly got a dream start on his captaincy debut as CSK found themselves in a state of bother at 30/2 in 5 overs.
