After moving to Inter Miami in July, Messi officially made his way to the United States. He didn't waste any time showcasing his football prowess by leading his new team to the Leagues Cup championship. He will now try to help his squad succeed in the MLS. Messi loved the chance to meet Novak Djokovic, the astonishing 23-time Grand Slam champion, as both are regarded as the best performers in their respective sports. Images of the two icons went viral as soon as they had met, on Friday.
On the sidelines of the US Open, the Serbian was asked about his encounter with Messi by an ESPN reporter. Djokovic replied, “He's a phenomenon. The first time I met him was before Roland Garros during a Paris match when he was playing there and the second time I met him is now in New York. We talked for 15 minutes about family and everything and I would like to meet him again to talk about sports. He is a great champion and I have a lot of respect for him.”
