Former Indian captain Virat Kohli’s run of bad form continues as he once failed to score a lot of runs in the second ODI against England. The RCB batter only managed to put up 16 runs in 25 balls with three boundaries. But Kohli was dismissed by David Willey’s good length delivery that got the Delhi-born batter fishing outside the off-stump.
With the slightest of extra bounce, the ball took the outside edge and went straight into Jos Buttler’s gloves. The England captain Jos Buttler has come out in support of Kohli as he said that the RCB batter has scored a lot of runs, and is shocked about why would someone question his ability in the post-match press conference.
"I suppose in a little way it's quite refreshing for the rest of us that he (Kohli) is human and he can have a couple of low scores as well, but look he has been one of the best players, if not the best player in ODI cricket in the world. So, he's been a fantastic player for so many years and all batters, it just proves, go through runs of form where they don't perform as well as they can do sometimes," Jos Buttler said during a press conference.
He then talked about how Kohli has won matches for India and has an impeccable record. Jos Buttler added, "But certainly, as an opposition captain, you know a player of that class is always due, so you're hoping that it doesn't come against us. Yeah, incredibly surprised, as I said, his record speaks for himself. The matches he's won for India and yeah, why would you question that."
This marks the 77th consecutive innings where Kohli hasn’t scored a century. The 34-year-old had scored 1 and 11 in the T20Is. He didn’t have a great showing in the Test match as he managed to put up 11 and 20.
It is to be noted that former India skipper Virat Kohli has been rested from the West Indies tour along with Jasprit Bumrah.
