After defeating the Super Kings i n Chennai, the Punjab Kings failed to takedown  CSK at home after suffering a 28-run in Dharamshala. After registering two back-to-back, Punjab's batting woes returned while derailing their chances to qualify for the playoffs. But despite this loss, the  Kings still have a chance to end up in the top four and return to the playoffs for the first time since 2014.

If Punjab wants to qualify for the playoffs they will need to win all three of their remaining matches by a good margin. However, after these, Punjab will have to depend on the results of other teams.  With this, the Kings will have to hope that CSK, Lucknow Super Giants and Sunirsers Hyderabad win only one match of their remaining matches.

How can Punjab Kings qualify for playoffs after loss vs CSK?

With these possibilities, three teams will remain at 14 points. Further, PBKS needs Delhi Capitals to win only 2 of its remaining matches. So DC also reach a maximum of 14 points. Apart from this, Punjab needs the Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans to win all their remaining matches.

Post these results, six teams will remain on 14 points and the fourth qualifier team will be decided based on the net run rate. In such a situation, PBKS can make a place in the IPL playoffs by improving the net run rate in the remaining three matches.

We need to move on and stay headstrong: Sam Curran

Talking about the defeat against Chennai Super Kings, Sam Curran said,  "Thought we bowled really well. Rahul Chahar and Harshal bowled really well, was pretty happy at the halfway point but unfortunately, it wasn’t to be. The wicket was probably slower than we thought, we expected a little more pace and bounce, it was pretty similar throughout the game. Couple of days off and we go against RCB in a few days time so we need to move on and stay headstrong."
