Sri Lanka's 13-consecutive ODI winning streak has come to an end after a 41-run loss to Team India in the Super fours stage of the Asia Cup 2023 in Colombo(RPS). India after back-to-back wins against Pakistan and Sri Lanka confirmed their spot in the final of the tournament.

Sri Lanka, who looked like favourites to win the game, ended up losing to India from nowhere as they ended up collapsing to a below-par total of 172 runs in the second innings. Here, in this article, we will see how Sri Lanka can still qualify for the finals of the Asia Cup 2023 tournament.

Asia Cup 2023 Points table:
India - 4 Points (2 games)
Sri Lanka - 2 Points (2 games)
Pakistan - 2 Points (2 games)
Bangladesh - 0 Points (2 games)

Remaining games of Asia Cup 2023 (Super 4 stage):
Pakistan vs Sri Lanka at Colombo(RPS), 14th Sep
India vs Bangladesh at Colombo(RPS), 15th Sep

Now if we see that Bangladesh has already been eliminated from reaching the final Asia Cup 2023 they can get only 2 points. India already has 4 points on the table and a spot in the Final.

The winner of (PAK vs SL) will have 4 points in the table. Even if PAK vs SL ends in a no result then both PAK & SL will have 3 points in the table.

Hence Pts (BAN) < Pts (IND, one of (PAK or SL)) thus Bangladesh stands eliminated.

Now, looking at the above scenario it's very clear that the winner of the PAK vs SL game will qualify for the finals of Asia Cup 2023.

- If Sri Lanka beats Pakistan then, Sri Lanka with four points will play India in the finals of Asia Cup 2023 at Colombo (RPS) on 17th Sep.

- Suppose, if Sri Lanka vs Pakistan game gets washed out without a result then both SL & PAK will be tied at three points in the table. SL have a better NRR than PAK in the table, hence Sri Lanka will qualify for the finals of Asia Cup 2023.
