The much-awaited interview between Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir and star batter Virat Kohli is finally out now. The two greats of Indian cricket were seen sharing their experiences and revising old memories as teammates in a video released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Both Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir had altercations in the past but the duo of ‘Delhi boys’ has put an end to all the rifts after Gambhir was appointed as a head coach of the Indian team ahead of the Sri Lanka tour in July - August 2024.
Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir have proved to match winners for India on multiple occasions and have made several partnerships for India. In 2009, Gautam Gambhir also handed over his player of the match award to young Virat Kohli, who scored his maiden international hundred in an ODI against Sri Lanka. Gambhir and Kohli also put up a crucial 83-run partnership during the 2011 ODI World Cup final. The two cricketers are known for their aggression on the field and have also been involved in banters during the Indian Premier League (IPL). The fans were excited to see the greats, Gambhir and Kohli together when Gambhir was appointed as a head coach.

After releasing a small teaser of one minute, 40 seconds on Wednesday, the BCCI went on to release the full video of the interview between Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir. The video was 19 minutes and 19 seconds long where both the cricketers were seen revisiting their playing days and heaped praise on each other for their contribution to Indian cricket over the years. Notably, India are set to play a two-match Test series against Bangladesh, starting on September 19. Gautam Gambhir will feature in his first Test series for India as a head coach, while Virat Kohi is also making a return in red-ball cricket after nine months.
