Former India cricketer, Harbhajan Singh, who lately featured for India Champions at the recently concluded World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2024, was seen venting out his anger. Bhajji, as he is fondly called as, during an interaction with Pakistani TV channel, was poked, leading to the former cricketer lashing out his anger.
During an interview with one of the Pakistani TV channels, Harbhajan was seen fuming in anger when he said “our players are not safe” in Pakistan and thus we’ll not send them for the upcoming Champions Trophy. “If our players are not safe in Pakistan, we won’t send the team. If you want to play; play, if not, then don’t,” he further added.
The 44-year-old, who currently serves in Indian politics continued, “Indian cricket can still survive without Pakistan. If you guys can survive without Indian cricket, do it.”
Watch Harbhajan Singh fume in anger over India’s participation in Champions Trophy:
With India ending their 11-year wait to lift an ICC trophy, the Champions Trophy is the next major ICC tournament, set to be played in Pakistan in February-March 2025. The Champions Trophy 2025 will mark its return after a gap of eight long years with the last edition being played in 2017 where Pakistan beat India in the final at The Oval in London to lift the title.
However, the ICC is yet to realise the official schedule of the 2025 Champions Trophy, the BCCI is still eyeing to shift Team India’s matches to a neutral venue after they have been tentatively drafted to be held in Lahore. According to a report published by Sportstar last week, the Indian board will formally convey this to the ICC in a meeting, scheduled to take place this week on Colombo.
