Virat Kohli is hailed as one of the greatest names in modern-era cricket and has already established himself as a legend of the sport. During his illustrious 15-year-long career, Kohli has scored 12898 runs in 274 ODIs, 4008 in 115 T20Is, and 8430 runs in 109 Test Matches. As dreamy as the numbers look, the journey behind reaching these figures wasn’t always a smooth one for him. Coming from a humble household in the national capital, Delhi, ‘King Kohli’, as he is hailed by his followers, had to overcome a lot in order to reach the top pedestal. However, the former number one Test cricketer, Kohli feels he always had this convinced feeling that he would represent India on the international level.

During a recent Star Sports chat show, the Delhi-born cricketer talked about his journey of self-belief. The 34-year-old told the show host and commentator Jatin Sapru that he always felt he would don the Indian jersey and play cricket for the nation at the top level. He said, "I always had this convinced feeling that I’d play at the top level. It was just the case of performing and going up step by step, but deep down I knew that I could reach somewhere."

During the chat show, he also talked about what happiness means to him and said that the happiness he gets on going back home doesn’t depend upon any result. Virat continued, "I feel happy when I go back home, and that happiness is consistent. It is not dependent on some result or how the day has gone on the field. It is beyond everything."

The former India skipper also talked about how his mother's happiness matters to him and said, "I always felt like taking care of my mother is very important. For me, even today, a small thing that can make her happy, is the thing that makes me happy."

Notably, Kohli is part of India’s squad as India takes on Australia in the ongoing World Test Championship Final 2023 at The Oval, London. Known for pulling up big scores from his willow, the cricket giant failed to make a mark in the first innings of the ‘Ultimate Test’ and was forced to return back to the pavilion after scoring just 14 runs.
