Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar was almost everyone’s favourite including former India captain MS Dhoni. The Ranchi-born cricketer has said that Tendulkar was his cricket idol and he wanted to play like him. Dhoni, who is himself considered a legend of the game, said that although he wanted to play like Sachin, he realised he can’t. But that didn’t change the fact that the Master Blaster was his idol.

Speaking at an event, Dhoni confessed his love for Sachin. Dhoni was answering a query from a little girl when he made the statement about Sachin. As soon as Dhoni named Sachin as his idol, everyone in the crowd went berserk as they started shooting.

Dhoni took a pause and said, "Growing up when I was your age, I used to watch him play and always thought I wanted to play like him but couldn't. Inside my heart, I always wanted to play like him, he was a cricketing idol growing up.”

Dhoni’s IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK) shared the video of their captain confessing his cricketing idol. “Even Thala’s favourite period is PT!” CSK wrote in the caption of the post. In the same video, Dhoni is also asked about his favourite subject in school. To this, the former India captain sheepishly replies, “Does sport qualifies as a subject?”

MS Dhoni was last seen in action in IPL 2022 where he represented CSK. The wicketkeeper batter played 14 matches in the Indian Premier League scoring 232 runs while remaining not out on six occasions. He averaged 33.14 in the tournament with one half-century. Dhoni has confirmed his participation in IPL 2023. In fact, he has also started his training for the same.
