Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma opened up on parenting of her kids, Akaay and Vamika, while sharing that she and her husband, cricketer Virat Kohli cook food for them. Sharma returned to homeland, Mumbai, for the first time post the birth of their second child, Akaay Kohli, and attended an event, where she revealed a detail about her and Virat’s parenting. The 'Rab ne Bana di Jodi' actor revealed that she and Virat have a cooking ritual for their kids.
Sharma, also joked about “cheating a bit” by calling her mother to ask for the recipes. She said, "We had this discussion at home that if we don't make the food our moms made at home, then we won't be passing these recipes on to our kids. So, sometimes I cook, and sometimes my husband cooks, and we really try to replicate the way our mothers did. I cheat a little by calling my mom to ask for recipes, but it's so important. It's like you're passing on something valuable to your children.”
I and Virat are not perfect parents: Anushka Sharma
The Bollywood actor also shared her experiences of parenthood and admitted that it’s okay for parents to own up to their mistakes in front of children. Anushka said, "There is so much pressure to be this perfect parent. But we’re not perfect, and that’s okay. It’s important to show kids that we are flawed, so they don't grow up with unrealistic expectations.”
She added, “My daughter is very young, and I don’t think I can teach her anything directly. It’s more about how we live our lives. Are we showing gratitude? That’s what children learn from.”
