Travis Head, the Australian batter, who has set the stage on fire in international and franchise cricket in recent years, spoke in a love-hate relationship with Indian fans during the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, where he plays for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). The 31-year-old spoke about how India is a big country with a big fan following before stating that he definitely feels that relationship with the fans, but at the same time, he doesn’t get spurred by their reaction anymore.
Notably, Travis Head was an integral part of Australia’s title wins in the ICC World Test Championship 2023 final and the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 final against India, scoring hundreds in both the matches. With that, the Australian has been called a “headache” by many Indian fans whenever he takes on the Indian cricket team in any of the three formats.

In his latest interview with CNN News18, Travis Head was quoted as saying about the relationship with Indian fans, “I take it as it comes. I respect the fact that India is such a big country with such a big following. I’ve been very fortunate to play well in a couple of games. It’s not in my nature so I guess I play it up in a jovial way. Some of the stuff that comes out, I find it funny in terms of Australia vs India or the result or my performance, it doesn’t spur me on anymore. I just go and try to enjoy myself, play well.”
“I’ve been put in a position against India quite a few times in the last 18 months and been able to play well but on the same note, they’ve played well against us a few times too. So I definitely feel that relationship with the fans,” he added. Apart from tormenting the Indian fans, he has also made a lot of impact in the IPL after joining SRH last year, scoring a lot of runs at a top of the order with an exceptional strike-rate, hitting boundaries for fun at times.
With his great performances for SRH in the IPL in recent years, Travis Head has also gained a fair few fans appreciating him for taking the league to the next level.
