Naveen-ul-Haq, the Afghanistan international and LSG fast bowler in the IPL 2023, has recently revealed that he doesn’t sledge any player upfront because it’s not his habit. This comment has come in the aftermath of his heated verbal altercation with RCB opener Virat Kohli on May 1 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. Since then, Naveen has been making cryptic social media posts in connection with the incident, which has become one of the biggest talking points in the league in the last week or so.
The 23-year-old was in a one-on-one conversation with his teammate Avesh Khan, which was shared on the official Twitter account of Lucknow Super Giants. It was captioned in a sharp-witted manner with a clear focus on the infamous sledging incident from May 1 in the IPL. “Avesh. Naveen. Too much fun. Also, wait till 1.39,” the tweet read.

After Naveen-ul-Haq said, “I don’t sledge someone upfront, it's not my habit,” he also narrated an incident from first-class cricket when asked about his favourite sledge done by him or to him. The Afghanistan cricketer remarked, “I was on the non-striker’s end and the batter on strike got sledged. The fielder on the silly point was newly married. He said, (It’s the last wicket, let’s finish this quickly, I need to go home and finish some work, I just got married yesterday).”
Notably, the LSG fast bowler has played 5 matches in the Indian Premier League 2023 season, in which he has taken 7 wickets at an average of 14.00 and an economy of 6.13. Naveen didn’t take any part in the previous match for Lucknow Super Giants against Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, which his team lost by 56 runs.
