The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is yet to clarify on number of retentions, Right To Match (RTM) and other key factors after the Indian board and the ten Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises held a meeting earlier this month, seeing mega auction take place this year. However, a lot lies on these decisions, including former India and CSK captain, MS Dhoni’s participation in the cash-rich league.

Although, the answer to this remains with the 43-year-old wicketkeeper-batter, but his close friend and former teammate, Suresh Raina feels that the stalwart should play one more season before retiring from the league. Speaking to Sports Tak, Raina said that seeing him bat during the IPL 2024, there still remains some left in him.

I feel Ruturaj Gaikwad needs one more year: Suresh Raina

Moreover, Raina also feels that Ruturaj Gaikwad needs one more year to completely take over the captaincy reigns successfully. It is to be noted that MS Dhoni handed over the CSK captaincy to Gaikwad ahead of IPL 2024.

“I want MS Dhoni to play in IPL 2025, considering how he batted last year. I feel Ruturaj Gaikwad needs one more year, the way he captained and a lot of things were said after the loss to RCB. However, Ruturaj has done a great job,” Suresh Raina told Sports Tak.

The former India captain, MS Dhoni, who had trouble with his knee in the last season, batted lower down the order and majorly played the role of a finisher. Although, he did play some match winning cameos, he aggregated 161 runs in 14 matches and scored at a strike rate of 220.25.
