South Africa defeated Pakistan in a thrilling match by just one wicket and went to the top of the points table in the ODI World Cup 2023 due to their net run rate. Talking about this game, Pakistan winning the toss opted to bat first and posted 270 runs on board with the help of fifties from Babar Azam and Saud Shakeel respectively while Shadab Khan also smashed 43 runs in 36 balls. Among South African bowlers Shamsi picked a four-wicket haul (4/60) with the ball.

South Africa was in a very comfortable position in the run-chase as their score read 206/4 in 33 overs, but from 206/4 they got reduced to 250/8 in 41.1 overs and put pressure on themselves as the equation read 21 runs with two wickets in hand.
