The International Cricket Council (ICC) will reportedly conduct a board meeting on December 5 amid the ongoing Champions Trophy 2025 debate. There remains uncertainty when it comes to the hosting of the forthcoming edition of the ICC tournament. According to the latest reports, the International board will conduct a meeting on forthcoming Thursday, but doesn’t have any specific agenda linked to it.
According to several sources, the perceived notion of the meeting could be an introductory session for newly-inducted Chairperson of the ICC, Jay Shah. Notably, Shah was elected unopposed ICC Chairman and at the age of 36, he became the youngest to hold the chair. On December 1, Shah, former BCCI Secretary, took charge of the new role. According to Cricbuzz, it is yet to be clarified if there will be a discussion on the Champions Trophy or not.
ICC to organise broadcasters’ workshop on December 5
There have been several reports doing rounds stating that the ICC will organise a broadcasting workshop specifically for its media partners. The one-day event will be held in Dubai and it will be attended by names like Jio and Star from India. However, as per CricTracker, the global administrative idea has rejected the news regarding updates about the hosting of the Champion Trophy. It is to be noted that the PCB finally accepted hosting the ICC tournament in a hybrid model.
However, the board reportedly proposed a partnership formula to be undergone. Under the proposition, the PCB is expected to insist the BCCI to allow Pakistan to play their games at a neutral venue. It would be applicable for the tournament India will host in the next three years, including the Asia Cup, Women’s World Cup in 2025, and the T20 World Cup in 2026.
