Portuguese football legend Cristiano Ronaldo recently scored his 908 goal and is still going strong for his club and country. He recently stated that he would love to score 1000 goals but even if he doesn't, he would still be the top scorer in the history. Notably, Al-Nassr & Portugal striker will turn 40 in February 2025.  Due to age factor he may not have sufficient time left in his career to reach this milestone. Ronaldo's contract with Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr will expire in June 2025.

Recently, the footballer talked abut his target of 1000 goals and said that he is currently living in the moment. The Al-Nassr great was present at the  Gala Quinas De Ouro organised by the Portuguese football federation. He received the  Platinum Quinas for completing the milestone of 200 national appearances. During the ceremony, he said,  “I now face my life as living in the moment. I can’t think long term anymore.  I said that I wanted to reach 1,000 goals, but it seems that now everything is easy, just last month I reached 900.  It’s about living in the moment, seeing how my legs will respond in the next few years. If I reach 1,000 goals, that’s fine, but if I don’t, I’m already the player with the most goals in history."

I’m often disappointed with some players who don’t want to play for the national team: Ronaldo

During the ceremony, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner also expressed his disappointment with some young players for their lack of enthusiasm when it comes to representing Portugal. Ronaldo said that nothing compares to representing the nation on global stage. He said,  “I’m often disappointed with some players who don’t want to play for the national team.  After playing for so many clubs, winning so many trophies, Champions Leagues, Ballon d’Ors, FIFA awards… nothing compares to representing your country."

He also talked about Portugal football and called  the current FPF president as the best. He said,  "We have everything: stadiums, magnificent coaches, potential in these players, and the stars that we have. Not just in football, but in other sports. Fernando Gomes is the best president we have ever had."
