In a nail-biting thriller, England and Australia drew the five-match Ashes Test series 2-2 with the hosts winning the final Test by 49 runs on the final day at the Oval on Monday, July 31. While it was the last match for veteran England pacer Stuart Broad after he announced retirement after Day 3's play, but who would know it would be last for Moeen Ali.

England spinner Moeen Ali who came out of retirement also called curtains to his career after the sensational 49-run victory for the hosts. While he registered a three-wicket haul in the final Test when the hosts need it the most and believes that the 68th Test was his last for the Three Lions. While talking to Sky Sports post England's win, Ali revealed that if Stokes sends him a message again, he'll delete it. Recalling the incident when Ben Stokes had sent an emergency message to Moeen Ali after Jack Leach was ruled out with back stress fracture, Ali said, "If Stokesy messages me again, I'm going to delete it. That's me done. I really have enjoyed it, and it's great to finish on it. It feels amazing."

While addressing his stint in the England colours, Moeen Ali reflected on his performance in the Ashes series. He reiterated that he hasn't played so well on comeback and will cherish this forever in his life. "Tocome back was a little bit daunting actually, because I've never played that well against Australia. It was one of those things where, when Stokesy asked me, I thought, 'why not? I'm going to go into brilliant side and I still believe I can do alright," Ali told BCC's Test Match Special.
Having made his Test debut in 2014 against Sri Lanka at the Lord's, Ali ends his career having played 68 matches in the longest format of the game, accumulating 3094 runs at the average of 28.12. Meanwhile he has scalped 204 wickets with an economy of 3.62 in as many Tests.
