The Men in Green suffered a shock defeat against the Americans in a thrilling Super Over and then blew out a comfortable chase against India before beating Canada to win their first game.
After this abysmal start, cricketing experts and fans ripped into the Pakistani team. The players were called names while the supports flooded social media with countless memes and posts. Addressing this criticism, Shaheen Afridi requested the fans to get behind the team in these difficult times.

Speaking to CrickWick, Shaheen Afridi said, "Everyone supports you in good times, but I've always said that fans must support us in tough times. We are your team, not a gully cricket team or a team where players have been picked based on recommendations. If you can't support the team now, you are just like the media."

In the interview, Shaheen Afridi delved into his preparation with the bat and revealed that he has closely works with his father-in-law and Pakistan great Shahid Afridi. The fast bowler spoke on how he works on range hitting as it has been his role with the bat.
Shaheen Afridi said, "I've worked very closely with him (Shahid Afridi) and have always worked on my batting in Moin Khan's academy. My role is to hit boundaries in the last couple of overs. So, I mostly practice that."
