The NBA announced on Tuesday that the Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry and New York Liberty guard Sabrina Ionescu are scheduled to compete in a head-to-head three-point contest at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on February 17. In the Warriors vs. Sixers post-game interview, the 35-year-old Curry reacted to the 3-point contest against Ionescu, calling it "the coolest thing ever."
The "Stephen vs. Sabrina" competition will be the first-ever NBA vs. WNBA 3-Point challenge and will take place during State Farm All-Star Saturday Night. Both the players will be playing for their respective charities as Curry's Eat.Learn.Play and Ionescu's SI20 Foundation will get donations from the NBA and WNBA.
New York Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu made the headlines last July with her spectacular performance in the Starry 3-Point Contest at the 2023 WNBA All-Star, scoring 37 out of a maximum of 40 points, missing only two shots during her final round.
In the Stephen vs. Sabrina contest, each made 3-pointer is valued at $1,000, the money ball is worth $2,000, and the "STARRY Range Ball," which is a 3-pointer from over 29 feet away, is worth $3,000. After the Warriors win over the Sixers on Tuesday night, Curry reacted to his matchup with Ionescu in a post-game interview and said, "I think this is like the coolest thing ever. … It’s gonna be great and I think the fans will love it!"
