Two-time Olympic medallist Neeraj Chopra revealed the reason behind training abroad. Neeraj, regarded as India’s golden boy, recently ended his season with a second spot finish in the Diamond League and the silver medal at Paris Olympics 2024. Chopra talked about the reason behind training in foreign nations rather than in India. Chopra recently appeared in one of the events, where he revealed that the climatic conditions in India is one of the biggest reasons behind him not training at home.
“In North India, it gets quite cold, so I used to go to the South. I went to Bhubaneswar. But now, I train in South Africa. The weather is quite good and facilities for javelin are excellent. Earlier, in India, there was so much travel that it was hard to maintain a proper balance between training and competitions. So, I stay abroad, and the weather and diet remain consistent, which benefits my training. I can focus more when I'm abroad. In India, there are always household chores or places to go, which can be distracting,” the 2020 Tokyo Olympics gold medallist was quoted by Economic Times as saying.
