The first T20I of the three-match T20I series between India and New Zealand could not take place as rain played a spoilsport. The two captains could not even walk out for the toss with rain pouring in. Nevertheless, the focus now shifts to the second T20I which will be played on 20 November (Sunday) at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui. Both teams will look to start the campaign with a win. It will be interesting to see how India play this game after so much criticism around their approach at the T20 World Cup.
Pitch Report
Mount Maunganui’s Bay Oval has always been a track where the batters have loved batting on. Because of the even bounce on this track, the batters will have no problem in playing their shots. Overcast conditions are expected for this game as well, so the pacers can move the ball a bit in the initial overs of the game. The outfield of this ground is very quick, whereas the boundaries are also not that huge.
Team Analysis
India
There was so much excitement among the fans to see India’s new approach after the T20 World Cup 2022 debacle. But the players could not get a game because of the rain. Now, with only the aim to win, Hardik Pandya and Co. will try to play a fearless game of cricket. India have got all the resources to play the fearless brand of cricket. The likes of Rishabh Pant, Ishan Kishan, Shubman Gill, and Shreyas Iyer will have the opportunity to take centerstage in the absence of regulars.
In the bowling department, Hardik Pandya will try to include Umran Malik and give him some good exposure. Arshdeep Singh will also be a key to the pace attack. Also, it will be interesting to see who between Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav gets a game. The latter will have more chances considering his prowess.

Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (wk), Hardik Pandya, Washington Sundar, Harshal Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh, Yuzvendra Chahal
New Zealand
New Zealand played good cricket throughout the T20 World Cup 2022. Finn Allen, Devon Conway, and Glenn Phillips ensured runs kept coming for New Zealand at a brisk rate. Meanwhile, Daryl Mitchell and Jimmy Neesham took care of finishing the innings on a high. However, Kane Williamson struggled to strike the ball at the desired pace and this probably became one of the reasons behind NZ’s ouster from the showpiece event.
Now, with a fresh young Indian team at their door, New Zealand would like to address the issues and get the ball rolling straight away. With no Trent Boult around, the onus will be on Tim Southee and Ferguson to attack with the new ball and take wickets in the powerplay.
